Slaven Kosanović Lunar is one of the founders of the Croatian graffiti scene who has been actively shaping the visual identity of Zagreb and cities around the world for over three decades. Born in 1975 in Zagreb, he found inspiration for graffiti art in 1989 during a family trip to Berlin. In the early nineties, together with his friend Krešimir, he founded the first Croatian graffiti crew YCP, laying the foundations for what would become a rich and recognizable Croatian street art scene.
Lunar is known for his characteristic flying cats that float through celestial spaces in balloons – distinctive characters that adorn not only Zagreb’s walls but also cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, Tokyo, Paris, and Sydney. Besides graffiti, he has also distinguished himself with classical painting techniques using acrylic on large-format canvases. A graphic designer and visual artist, Lunar published his book “From Zagreb with Love” in 2019, documenting his thirty years of work, and in 2021 he was appointed Creative Ambassador of Culture. His constant quest to learn from other artists and perspectives has taken him to all six continents, where he continues to spread graffiti culture.
